Imagine this. Your photographer clicks and uploads photos directly to the ScorePlay platform using FTP. With the player names and headshots that have already been added to the platform, ScorePlay runs through the data and connects similar matches with an incredibly high accuracy. Within seconds of capture, all the photos have been tagged with players and partners, sorted in galleries, and distributed to players. Life is simple. The key? ScorePlay AI.

We’ve already discussed about the simplicity our AI brings, however, what goes on in the back-end is much more complex, so let’s have a look at how the AI actually works.

Visual AI

While uploading photos to an event, you choose the team the event is linked to. This allows the AI to check which players it needs to scan for. The ScorePlay AI facial recognition works in 2 steps. First, it scans the uploaded assets to check for faces. This is the face detection model. This AI model recognises and groups all the faces from the uploaded photo or video and separates it from the original file. Then comes the face recognition model. This AI model matches the faces detected with the headshots that have already been added to the platform using our integration with Sportradar.

After your upload is complete, the AI runs on the uploaded files for a few seconds before populating all the media assets with the correct tags based on the visual recognition.

For assets where certain faces or partners are obscured too much, the AI is set to ignore them so that your athletes and partners only receive the best possible content where their brand has high visibility and clarity. There can also be instances where a player’s face cannot be seen because sports is very dynamic, but we find that for the most part whether for partners or players, it’s best that these assets aren’t tagged in order to provide ambassadors with the best possible content. We therefore adjust the percentage threshold to maintain the quality of pictures distributed.

Text AI

In addition to visual recognition, ScorePlay AI also allows for text recognition. Text recognition AI allows for the automated tagging of photos and videos with metadata, such as player and partner names, quickly and accurately.  Whether it’s the name on the back of a shirt or a partner name on a billboard or hoarding, the ScorePlay AI scans every pixel on display to recognise your biggest ambassadors, your players and partners, so that photos and videos can be sorted and distributed easily, with the ability to curate individual galleries for whichever partner you need.

All you have to do is set the name you want the AI to run on, and it’ll do the rest.

Benefits of AI

Fast distribution

AI helps with asset discovery and classification. When you have a huge library of assets, the ScorePlay AI automatically categorises them based on tags. This makes it easier for you to find the assets you need, and you can set rules for automatic distribution to the detected players and partners. Efficient search and distribution within seconds.

Accurate and standardised

The ScorePlay AI has a very high level of accuracy, which is very important when it comes to sports because of the constant movement. Auto-tagging with AI also means that you can find all the media related to a player or sponsor in one go - they’ll always be tagged under the same name. No more searching for first names, last names or nicknames. You have all related content curated in one place, once again, thanks to AI.

VIP teams

ScorePlay AI also provides a unique feature called 'VIP teams'. With VIP teams, you can create teams of players and partners and give them special access to content that is curated just for them. Teams can be created and managed easily and quickly, and access to content can be granted with just a few clicks. Content can be sorted and distributed even faster with AI, so your teams can start collaborating right away. AI makes it easy to find the assets that your VIP teams need, and the AI can even detect when you’re adding new players or partners to your team, so you don’t need to manually update the DRM. It's the perfect way to make sure that your VIP teams have access to the best content and can collaborate on it in real-time.
