Every vertical clip today starts the same way. An editor opens a landscape video and crops it by hand, frame by frame, just to keep the ball in shot. Multiply that by every channel, every match, every day, and "repurposing footage" turns into one of the most time-consuming jobs on a content team.
Auto Reframing lessens the burden on the editor, and increases the volume of output you can achieve from a single event.
What Auto Reframing is
Auto Reframing is our new feature that turns a landscape video into a 9:16 version in one click, without leaving ScorePlay. Point it at any video already in your library and it tracks the action, keeping the focus point held in frame the whole way through, powered by AWS Elemental Inference in the background.
To be clear about what this isn't, it's not a manual recrop, and it's not a separate export-edit-reimport workflow. The original video stays exactly as it was, untouched and still in your library. Auto Reframing simply creates a new 9:16 version alongside it.

How it works, in plain words
Say you've got a full-match landscape recording and you need a vertical cutdown for social. Instead of scrubbing through the timeline and cropping shot by shot, you select the video and run Auto Reframing from the format control. A 9:16 version comes back with the action already tracked and kept in frame.
When the AI misses a beat, Manual Override lets you set a new keyframe at that point, and the reframing picks up from there. It's media-level today.
And because the clip never leaves ScorePlay, the reframed version stays tied to the same metadata and rights as the original. That's the part that usually gets lost when this work happens in a second tool.
How to use it
1) Select the video. Any video media already in ScorePlay. No export, no second tool.
2) Choose 9:16. Run Auto Reframing from the format control in the top left. A new 9:16 version is created alongside the original.
3) Override if the crop misses. Manual Override lets you fix the framing at that point.
4) Download, share or API. Push the vertical out however you already distribute, with metadata and rights tracking intact.
A few things worth knowing
Auto Reframing is live now, but it's a paid, feature-flagged add-on rather than something that's self-serve. It gets enabled per account, with formats, volumes and workflow agreed with your CSM first. It's the strongest fit for teams repurposing video at volume: turning landscape match footage into vertical social clips, channel by channel, especially high-cadence broadcasters and rights holders producing dozens of clips per match-day.
Today it outputs 9:16 only. There's no 1:1 or 4:5 yet, the format can't be changed after generation, and a reframed version can't be reframed again. More formats are on the way.
