In the extreme world of freeride skiing and snowboarding, where athletes navigate treacherous mountain terrain in freezing conditions, the Freeride World Tour by Peak Performance (FWT) required a tool to manage their media operations across remote, off-grid locations with minimal resources. ScorePlay provided them with a robust solution to capture, process, and distribute content from some of the world's most inaccessible venues, while serving a complex ecosystem of athletes, partners, media, and fans.

Freeride World Tour's extreme media obstacles

Operating across 6 professional events, 1 FIS Freeride World Championships, and 150+ competitions annually that support  10,000+ licensed freeride athletes across the globe, FWT generates massive content volumes under uniquely challenging conditions:

  1. Extreme remote operations: Events take place in off-grid mountain locations with no cellular or internet connectivity, making real-time uploads impossible while teams work in temperatures as low as -25°C (-13°F).

  2. Resource constraints: FWT has a lean team, with ~20 people managing all content operations, from live production to post-event distribution, requiring maximum efficiency from every workflow and process.

Complex stakeholder ecosystem: With 50 professional athletes, over 5,000 junior competitors, 50 global partners, international media outlets, and multiple broadcasters, FWT needed seamless content distribution to diverse audiences with varying access requirements.

Building an integrated media ecosystem

ScorePlay served as the central hub for all media operations, streamlining the management and distribution of live content from even the most remote locations. During the event, a satellite feed was broadcast from a mobile production tent high on the mountain and transmitted to Paris, where it was redistributed via SRT/RTMP to multiple stakeholders, including ScorePlay. This allowed media teams to clip, manage, and share live content in real time directly on our platform, ensuring fans and stakeholders around the world had immediate access to event highlights and key moments.

The system revolutionized their content workflows through automated live clipping during events, and enabled athletes to access their performance footage within 5 minutes of completing their runs via the mobile app. Professional photographers used structured manual tagging through Lightroom catalogs, delivering complete photo selections to their entire ecosystem within 60 minutes of reaching the Operations base.

Fresh Tracks to Success: FWT's Operational Transformation

ScorePlay's comprehensive implementation delivered exceptional results across FWT's entire operation:

  • 2.3M+ minutes of video content successfully processed and organized through the platform

  • 150+ junior and qualifier events managed through semi-automated collection and distribution workflows

  • 50+ professional athletes actively engaged through the mobile app for instant content access

  • Complete ecosystem integration serving photographers, videographers, PR agencies, partners, and media through customized access levels

“Content is at the heart of what we do, and ScorePlay makes it so much easier to bring it to life. It streamlines our process, saves time, and gives us a simple, effective way to share and showcase content with all our stakeholders. ScorePlay has truly changed the way we work,” said Marianna Dallabetta, FWT Senior Communications Manager

FWT now operates with remarkable efficiency, requiring just 4-5 hours a week for content management and distribution across the entire organization. This allows the team to focus on creative storytelling and strategic initiatives instead of technical processes. This solution demonstrates how advanced media management can overcome extreme operational challenges, enabling organizations to stay lean while delivering professional-grade content distribution to global stakeholders.
