We were able to announce that last year we closed a final pre-seed round with two huge names in the industry. Firstly, Kevin Durant and Rich Kleiman’s 35Ventures - the NBA star, and founders of Boardroom invested in ScorePlay going forward. Alongside 35V, another athlete-backed VC joined, with APEX Capital adding their name to our list of investors. With big names like Jan Vertonghen, Luuk de Jong, and Mitch Evans from Formula E, APEX immediately saw the value in what ScorePlay was building. Read more here.
And it wasn’t just investors who noticed us. We were also nominated in the Startup of the Year category for the The Sports Technology Awards, as well as the SportsPro Ignition competition that will give us the chance to pitch ScorePlay on stage at SportsPro Live in London.
The last couple months have been huge, with new sports, and even larger organisations deciding on ScorePlay. Volleyball World, the partnership between the FIVB and CVC, decided on ScorePlay to be their digital asset manager for all their competitions, and their 1400+ athletes. We also developed a custom WSC Sports integration for their highlights - read more about that below. In soccer, we signed two Premier League teams in West Ham and Wolves, expanded our growth in MLS and the NWSL with Portland Timbers & Thorns, Nashville SC, Philly Union, Colorado Rapids, OL Reign and Gotham FC. We also signed one of the largest clubs in Scotland in Rangers FC, and in Brazil with Sport Club Internacional. Finally, we established ScorePlay in another two sports with the Panther City Lacrosse and WNBA’s Dallas Wings, as well as launching our ScorePlay foundation with Club Eleven.
Finally, we’ve expanded to sports brands with Kappa. the Italian fashion brand who can now access all their partner club’s content directly from one ScorePlay platform. We call it multi-platform access, and it just makes total sense. Read why here.
When we started ScorePlay, we wanted to make soccer club’s workflows simpler by creating a seamless media ecosystem between club, athletes, partners and internal users. As we’ve grown, we’ve strived to add each new stakeholder and give them the simple access to media they deserve - through both our own product development and with integrations. We’re now at a stage where our ScorePlay Pulse product is live and providing the heartbeat to league organisations - at the centre of the ecosystem between league, broadcasters, clubs, athletes, partners and the media.
Finally, we’ve developed some high-end integrations. Firstly, with the best automated highlights service in the industry, WSC Sports, so that Volleyball World’s athletes can receive their highlights automatically with our AI distribution. Additionally, we’ve developed a Shopify integration that allows our customers to connect their media to their account, to streamline merchandising and retail media collaboration, as well as an Azzuu integration. Check out all our integrations here.
Since we moved to the US in January, we have been working hard on securing the market, as well as our next funding round to continue our meteoric rise. Stay tuned for updates, new signings, new features and more.
